About Glenda

Georgia native Glenda Cason has been living on the coast and painting for over 20 years. Her venture into painting came as a second or—as some might say—third career behind child rearing and working in retail. As an artist, she has found her calling and specializes in painting the natural beauty of Georgia’s salt marsh landscapes.

“The spring greens with wild flowers, the softer summer greens, the golds and burnt siennas of fall and the rich browns of winter bring renewed inspiration for my paintings,” she enthusiastically states.

The marshes of Glynn have long been an inspiration for writers and painters alike for their palettes are constantly changing not only throughout the four seasons but month to month, day to day. Even within the course of a day, they can change in their appearance. The mesmerizing landscapes are so enchanting that they have become a favorite subject for artists of many disciplines.

Glenda particularly enjoys painting the salt marsh landscapes because of all the colors they encompass. Her paintings are all created on linen which has a fiber content she prefers to use. “Unlike cotton, linen has a long strong fiber that resists deterioration for centuries.” Also, it has a texture that is especially suitable for my style of painting.” Her paintings on linen can be as small as 5” x 7” or as large as 48” x 72”, a true manifestation of her ability to scale landscapes in both small and large formats.

Glenda owns and operates a fine art gallery on Saint Simons Island, GA which features her landscapes, wildlife and still life paintings. She hosts special art receptions three to four times a year at her gallery.

Her work can be found in a number of prestigious corporate and private collections in the United States and Europe.

Artist's Statement:

The world of art has given me a deep satisfaction of self expression. Accumulated knowledge plus the immense inspiration I receive from the coastal Georgia marshlands and the beautiful live oaks that are so eloquently draped with Spanish moss all inspire, energize and enrich my life.

Painting is a special language with endless possibilities. It is like a dear friend and I view my skill as a precious gift that I can share with others. I most often choose peaceful, serene views as subjects for my paintings to capture the essence of Georgia's Golden Isles. The greens that burst forth in our expansive marshlands each spring bring to me a renewed spirit. The ebb and flow of our coastal waters remind me of how important this natural treasure is to the reproduction of our sea life. I try to capture moments in time to convey to everyone the natural beauty we all enjoy.

Each season gives me continual passion for what I do as I continue this joyful journey.
